My name is Cassandra Babtkis and I’m a fine arts artist. I have my own business called Sensitive Soul Fine Arts LLC, where I showcase my photography and paintings. My processes for photography and painting are very different, but they speak to the different sides of who I am.
For my photography, I love capturing close ups where new detail can be appreciated. I also love photographing simple objects, but at new angles that challenge us to discover a new kind of beauty to something that might’ve seemed so insignificant.
For my paintings, I like to use different techniques and media such as acrylic paint and chalk pastel. I create the backgrounds of my paintings with my fingers. Feeling the paint coat the canvas helps me connect to my painting, instead of using brushes. I then close my eyes and create chalk designs inspired by the music I'm listening to.
Other times I’m inspired by the flow of the paint and use the chalk pastel to highlight the intricate designs. I also use lemon wedges to form a smeared look across my work. My paintings are expressive and counter my photography, where my hands focus less on the detail but more on the combination of colors and shapes.
I hope that my work encourages you to look within yourself and visualize what your emotions would look like on paper, for I have shared mine with you.
